There is value on the Phillies roster with a number of players, most notably Marlon Byrd. There have been trade talks involving numerous players but the Phillies don't have anything to show for it. That lends itself to the question, why haven't the Phillies made any moves?
It appears the answer is Ruben Amaro Jr. The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports the Phillies "are being perceived as asking too much for their players." While the Phillies are requesting fair deals for their players.
With just four days until the deadline, you have to wonder what kind of value Amaro is going to get for his available players. I don't think it is uncommon to be nervous that the Phillies don't make any major trades at the deadline. The asking price for some of these guys must be lowered because they are worth way more to the Phillies elsewhere than on a team that is wallowing at 14 games under .500.
