“The Phillies' five-man list for center field includes two free agents (Michael Bourn and Josh Hamilton) and three potential trade targets (Curtis Granderson of the Yankees, Ben Revere of the Twins and Dexter Fowler of the Rockies).”
Hamilton and Bourn are no strangers to rumors to Philadelphia. Bourn would provide a strong defensive presence while Hamilton will provide the power bat the Phillies desire. We discussed Fowler’s fit with the Phillies the other day.
Granderson has been linked to the Phillies since, at least, October. The 31 year old centerfielder is coming off back-to-back 41+ homerun seasons. Last year the left hander hit .232 with 43 homeruns and 106 RBI for the Yankees. He is slated to earn $15 million this year.
Revere is the newest and most interesting of the names listed. The 24 year old Twins centerfielder has progressed in each of his first two big league season. He hit .267 with no homeruns, 30 RBI, and 34 stolen bases in 2011 and followed it up last year hitting .294 with no homeruns, 32 RBI, and 40 stolen bases. Despite the lack of power, Revere would be a great acquisition for the Phillies and their attempt to get younger.
