The Philadelphia Inquirer's Matt Gelb reports the Phillies "will look to trade Domonic Brown this winter for a similar change-of-scenery-type player." One player to keep an eye on is former-second overall pick Dustin Ackley with the Seattle Mariners. He has largely under-performed for his expectations as he is batting .255/.303/.405 with 11 home runs and 60 RBIs this season. The Mariners and Phillies could make the swap as a change of scenery for both players could be warranted.
Brown, 27, is batting .234/.284/.347 with eight home runs and 58 RBIs on the season. A far cry from last season when he batted .272/.324/.494 with 27 home runs and 83 RBIs en route to being selected to the All Star team.
Brown showed potential last season but has fallen off mightily in 2014. His value is significantly lower now than it was last December when the Phillies were reportedly "actively shopping" him.
