A report from MLB.com states that there is a possibility the Texas Rangers will not add another bat to their lineup before the trade deadline and do not plan to bring Phillies 3B Michael Young back to the team before the deadline.
It was just Friday that the reports surfaced that Young could be headed back to Texas as the organization had begun internal discussions that might send the third baseman back to the only other team for which he has ever played.
It would be stunning, and stupid, if the Phillies held on to Young past the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline. Young, 36, is batting .277/.342/.402 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs in 97 games for the Phillies this season. He has been a great person to have in Philadelphia and around the clubhouse but, after losing eight straight games, he is more valuable to the Phillies in a trade.
