It appears that the situation has become more fluid and might be coming to an end soon.
The Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen reports that the Rockets do not have a deal in place to move Asik but it is believed general manager Daryl Morey has an offer in place to move Asik if he so desires. Morey has been open about his December 19th deadline to move Asik.
If the Sixers are involved, one name that has been thrown around is power forward Thaddeus Young. Feigen reports if the Sixers are involved in the deal, there would likely have to be a third team involved. The Rockets want draft pick compensation but the Sixers, who are struggling, would likely not part with anything of value.
A deal would likely look like:
Sixers receive: C Omer Asik (from Rockets)
Rockets receive: Draft Pick compensation (from third team)
Third Team receives: PF Thaddeus Young (from Sixers)
I'm sure a deal would be more complex than that but that is what it would look like from a high-level overview.
Thursday will approach quickly but I would not be surprised to see Asik in Philadelphia by next weekend.
