ESPN's Marc Stein reports the Sixers have waived injured point guard Pierre Jackson. Mark Deeks adds the 76ers have guaranteed Jackson $400,000 while he rehabs from a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered during the summer league.
Jackson was acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans at the 2014 NBA Draft in exchange for the rights to 47th overall pick Russ Smith. Jackson was the 42nd overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the 76ers but was sent to New Orleans with Jrue Holiday for the rights to Nerlens Noel and the pick in the 2014 draft that was traded for Dario Saric.
The 22-year-old Jackson played 31 games last season with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Developmental League. Jackson averaged 29.1 points and 6.2 assists per game en route to being named a D-League All Star.
