This is the correct action in my opinion. Getting Cooper away from his teammates and away from the media right now will be the best thing for him. Counseling is also the correct action because we can now see from interviews with Eagles players and those who spend time with him, that his "outburst," if you will, at the concert is not something out of the ordinary. There are clearly more issues with Cooper than just racism and he needs to have himself evaluated. Below is an excerpt from Riley's statement regarding what awaits him in counseling.
During this time I'm going to be speaking with a variety of professionals to help me better understand how I could have done something that was so offensive, and how I can start the healing process for everyone. As long as it takes, and whatever I have to do, I'm going to try to make this right.
