Now we have a date.
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports Madson will throw off a mound for teams on Friday, February 7th in Phoenix. The Phillies are one of a handful of teams interested in the right-handed reliever.
On Christmas Eve, it was reported the Phillies have interest in a possible reunion with Madson and Madson is also interested in a possible return to Philadelphia. Madson has not thrown a pitch in a regular season game since he left Philadelphia following the 2011 season.
The deal would obviously be heavily incentive-laden due to Madson's arm trouble over the last two seasons but it could be a low-risk, high-reward move for the Phillies. Madson had tremendous success in Philadelphia and really stepped up into the closer's role in 2011 posting a 4-2 record with a 2.37 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and 32 saves.
