The New Orleans Saints announce starting runningback Pierre Thomas has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Eagles with a chest injury. Thomas was the Saints leading rusher with 549 yards on the ground this season (3.7 yards per carry) and recorded 513 receiving yards (6.7 yards per reception).
That will shift the attention to Mark Ingram and Darren Sproles. Ingram had 386 rushing yards (4.9 yards per carry) this season but isn't much of a threat in the passing game recording just seven receptions for 68 yards. Sproles, on the other hand, rushed for only 220 yards (4.2 yards per carry) but is used more as a receiving threat out of the backfield putting up 604 receiving yards (8.5 yards per catch).
Losing Thomas means it is one less runningback the Eagles have to worry about.
