Bryzgalov even trained as a cosmonaut in his native Russia after last season. The universe story never ends with Bryzgalov. He was on SportsRadio WIP last week doing an interview with Michael Barkann and Ike Reese on the Mike & Ike Midday Show. It came just days after the meteor that flew across the Russian sky and, of course, Bryzgalov went into a deep conversation on “space danger.”
All of this space talk has to give Bryzgalov a title involving the universe, right? Well now that title is apparently “Mr. Universe.” On Apple iPhones and iPads, the question posed to Siri, “Who is Mr. Universe?” yields the answer “Ilya Bryzgalov currently plays goalie for the Flyers.”
There you have it; Ilya Bryzgalov is now “Mr. Universe.” The goaltender is 9-9-1 with a 2.79 GAA and a .900 SV% this year which is decent but his play has dropped off of late after a torrid start. It could be a result of fatigue as he has played a league high 19 games. By himself, he has played more games than 17 of the 29 other teams in the league.
