One face that isn't new is that of Thaddeus Young, the 76ers first-round pick in the 2007 draft out of Georgia Tech. But with three years and $28 million left on his contract extension, who knows how long Young will be donning a Sixers uniform?
The Delco Daily Times' Christopher Vito caught up with Young to discuss his future with the only NBA franchise he's ever known. Young said he understands it's a business and "if that day comes, it comes." Despite the understanding, he did not shy away from the fact it would be emotional saying "I’d definitely be heartbroken, by the simple fact that this is the team that drafted me, this is the team I’ve been with, and this is the family I’ve always been with."
Young, 25, had the best season of his six-year NBA career starting all 76 games he played in while 14.8 points per game, grabbing a career-high 7.5 rebounds per contest, and dishing out a career-high 1.6 assists per game while shooting 53.1% from the field in 34.6 minutes per game. In his career, he is averaging 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.
