Wroten was acquired at the end of August from the Grizzlies in a trade that sent a future second round pick to Memphis. The 6'6" 208 lbs. guard averaged 2.6 points and 1.8 assists in 7.6 minutes per game last season with Memphis.
What Wroten brings to Philadelphia is loads of potential. The 20 year-old was the 25th overall pick in the 2012 out of the University of Washington. In his only season at Washington, Wroten averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He was the first ever freshman named to the All-Pac 12 First Team and was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
New Sixers coach Brett Brown told The Philadelphia Inquirer that Wroten is "like a Tyreke Evans-type player." It is clear why Brown is high on Wroten as he has shown his quickness at practice, his ability to hit shots consistently beyond the arc, and his aggressiveness taking the ball to the hoop. Being compared to Evans is a pretty high honor considering Evans signed a four-year, $44 million contract with the Pelicans in July.
I wouldn't mind if Wroten became a Evans-like player if he also learns the ability to distribute the ball to other playmakers.
