The Sixers have announced that they have signed rookie free agent forward Brandon Davies after he was cut by the Los Angeles Clippers following the preseason.
The 6'10", 240 lbs. Davies played college basketball at BYU where he was All-WCC First Team his junior and senior seasons. His sophomore year in 2010-11, while playing alongside All-American Jimmer Fredette, Davies was suspended from the team after a 27-2 start for breaking BYU's honor code by having premarital sex with his girlfriend.
Davies, 22, was the MVP of the Portmouth Invitational Tournament pre-draft NBA camp in April averaging 20.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while shooting 68% from the field.
He does have ties to Philadelphia as Davies was born in Philadelphia before being adopted and raised in Provo, Utah.
