The Sixers played a solid first half and took a ten point lead to the locker room. They started the third quarter with an 11-0 run that quickly turned the ten point contest into a 21 point rout. The Sixers never looked back and even stretched their lead to as much as 34 before winning by 27 points.
Former first round pick Evan Turner had a breakout game for the Sixers tonight. Turner had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. Turner was one of six 76ers in double figures including Jrue Holiday who added 17 points.
Lost in all of the craze of the Sixers big victory was the loss of C Spencer Hawes. Hawes, as we talked about in the preview, has been a big piece of the Sixers winning puzzle. Hawes strained his lower back Saturday against Toronto but fought through it last night against Indiana to log 29 minutes. Tonight, Hawes only played 11 minutes and didn’t score. He didn’t play at all in the second half but he wasn’t needed as the Sixers took complete control of the game.
Were you at the game? Since the Sixers scored 100+ points in the victory, you can take your ticket stub to participating McDonald’s for a free Big Mac on Wednesday.
The Sixers get back at it on Wednesday against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. That will be the third game in the back-to-back-to-back stretch for the Sixers.
Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
