The Sixers extended their win streak to six games last night with a decisive 112-85 win over the Sacramento Kings. Local products John Salmons, Tyreke Evans, and Jason Thompson returned home to face their hometown team. The Flyers got a big two points in Carolina last night with a 2-1 win over the Hurricanes. Rookies Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier netted both Flyers goals and second year goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was stellar between the pipes. The young players came up big for the Flyers. More here.
Ryan Madson has agreed to a one year deal with the Cincinnati Reds. There are conflicting reports about how much the deal is worth. ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports that sources say the deal is worth $8.5 million but USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports the deal is worth in excess of $10 million. More here.
The last of the Paternos is out at Penn State. Jay Paterno will not be joining Bill O’Brien’s staff for next year. It ends Paterno’s 17 year run as an assistant at Penn State. More here.
