With a 7-1 win over the Brewers last night, the Cardinals took a 3-2 series lead in the NLCS and, yes you guessed it, they are just one win away from winning the National League and punching their ticket to the World Series. According to reports, Sixers fans no longer can complain about Ed Snider not caring about basketball. Sources are reporting that the NBA Board of Governors have approved the sale of the 76ers to Joshua Harris. Snider says he was losing “a lot” of money with the Sixers and it was time to give someone else a shot. More here.

Midnight Madness kicked off the college basketball season for a number of big name programs. Syracuse featured a pick game featuring former Orange players such as Carmelo Anthony and Philadelphia product Hakim Warrick. UConn had a slam dunk contest judged by Ray Allen and Kemba Walker. Many of the Big 5 programs kickoff their preseason festivities within the next two weeks. More here.
