Justin Verlander beat the Oakland A's yesterday to improve to 24-5. The win is Verlander's 12th in a row. He is on a pace to become the AL's first pitcher MVP since Dennis Eckersley in 1990. He is very dangerous and makes the Tigers a legitimate contender in the AL playoff picture. More here.
If you haven't been following baseball as closely as you should be, the Boston Red Sox, the preseason favorite to win the World Series, are falling apart. Now I'm not going to say that the wheels have completely come off the track, but the people of Boston have a real potential collapse on their hands. The Ohio State Buckeyes lost this weekend to the Miami Hurricanes in Dolphin Stadium. With the loss in the "Ineligibowl" Ohio State drops out of the rankings for the first time in close to 7 years. Oklahoma beat Florida State to remain at #1 while Florida State drops from #5 to #11. AP Poll.
