The Phillies were looking for their first series win of 2013 as they sent Kyle Kendrick to the mound for the rubber match of their set with the Mets. They got off to a fast start as Chase Utley hit a two run homerun followed by Dom Brown's three run homerun in the bottom of the first. That is all Kendrick would need as the Phillies didn't let a little rain get in the way of their 7-3 victory to pull to 4-5 on the year. More here.
The Sixers took on Kyle Korver and the Atlanta Hawks last night at the Wells Fargo Center. It was close after the first quarter as the Hawks led 29-27. They would take an eight point lead into halftime before blowing the game wide open in the third quarter. The Hawks led by 20 heading into the fourth quarter and would go on to win 124-101. Josh Smith had 28 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks while Thaddeus Young had 28 points for the Sixers in the losing effort. More here.
The Boston Red Sox held the record for longest consecutive sellout streak at 820 games (794 regular season, 26 playoffs). Boston's record streak came to an end last night as the Red Sox faced the Baltimore Orioles. The streak began in 2003 and surpassed the Portland trail Blazers professional sports record of 814 games. The longest MLB streak, prior to the Red Sox, was the Cleveland Indians 1995-01 sellout streak of 455 games. More here.
