The Flyers opened up their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series with the New York Rangers last night in New York. The got off to a good start when Andrew MacDonald got the Flyers the 1-0 lead seven and a half minutes into the game. The Rangers responded three and a half minutes later to tie it. It was tied heading into the third when the Rangers scored three goals, two on the power play, and went on to win 4-1. More here.
The Phillies were looking to salvage a game in their series against the Braves. A.J. Burnett threw seven shutout innings allowing just three hits and two walks with five strikeouts getting the no-decision. Ben Revere had a huge day for the Phillies going 3-for-4 while driving in the game-winning run in the eighth inning as the Phillies went on to win 1-0. More here.
A.J. Burnett has a small inguinal hernia and it will require surgery to repair it at some point. Burnett received a cortisone shot on Monday to deal with the pain and he plans to pitch through the pain for the rest of the season. More here.
