The Phillies opened their season up yesterday in Texas. The opened up in a big way with a six-run second inning thanks to Jimmy Rollins' grand slam which was also his 200th career home run. The Rangers fought back to take a 7-6 lead but the Phillies responded. Cody Asche went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two RBIs and four runs scored en route to a 14-10 victory. More here.
The Sixers were in Atlanta looking for their second consecutive victory. The Sixers shot an impressive 46.8% from the field while shooting 11-for-30 (36.7%) from beyond the arc tonight. They held Atlanta to 42.9% shooting and just 7-for-31 (22.6%) shooting from deep. What hurt Philadelphia was Atlanta's 60 point second half which included a 19-5 run at the end of the third quarter. A report surfaced late last night a source close to free agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson says Jackson to the Washington Redskins is a "done deal." That would immediately bolster an electrifying offense that features Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris. Not to mention he gets the chance to face his former team, the Eagles, twice a year. The NBA has announced 76ers forward Arnett Moultrie has been suspended for five games without pay due to violating the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program. The Sixers only have nine games remaining on their schedule anyways. More here.
The Minnesota Wild announced late last night theysigned unrestricted free agent Christian Folin to an entry-level contract. Folin has played the last two seasons at UMass-Lowell. This comes not long after reports surfaced the Flyers, along with the Wild and Lightning, were finalists for Folin. More here.
