The Flyers were looking to avoid falling behind 2-0 in their series with the Rangers yesterday. It did not get off to a good start as the Rangers scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the game. Jake Voracek scored to make it 2-1 after one. Then the Flyers turned it on in the second getting goals from Jason Akeson and Luke Schenn to take a 3-2 lead. Wayne Simmonds added an empty-netter at the end of the game to ice it and give the Flyers a 4-2 win. More here.
The Phillies were looking to salvage their final game in their series with the Rockies. Jimmy Rollins ended the Phillies extra-base hit drought at 130 plate appearances with his first inning solo home run. Rollins went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Justin Morneau carried the Rockies going 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and five RBIs. The Phillies held on to a 10-9 victory at Coors Field. More here.
