The Phillies opened up a four game set with the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citizens Bank Park with Jonathan Pettibone making his Major League debut for the Phillies. Pettibone pitched well going 5.1 innings allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out six. The Phillies lead 2-1 when Russell Martin took Pettibone deep in the fifth to tie the game at 2. Jimmy Rollins broke the tie in the sixth with his single to right to give the Phillies a 3-2 lead and ultimately the 3-2 victory. More here.
The Grizzlies and Clippers were in a barn burner last night with the Clippers up 1-0 in their series. Mike Conley paced Memphis with 28 points and nine assists. Tony Allen scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Grizzlies and would play a crucial late in the game. With the game tied at 91 and 13 seconds left, Chris Paul had the ball for Los Angeles with Allen guarding him. Paul took the ball to the basket and let go a floater to put LA up 93-91 with .1 seconds left. They would go on to win 93-91 to go up 2-0 in the series. Paul had 24 points and 9 assists. More here.
The Bulls were feeling the loss of Derrick Rose in their Game 1 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. Last night the Bulls looked to even the series at 1-1. The used a strong third quarter as Chicago outscored Brooklyn 22-11. Luol Deng lead the Bulls with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Carlos Boozer (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Joakim Noah (11 points, 10 rebounds) also added double-doubles for the Bulls to pace them in their 90-82 victory to even the series. More here.
