The Phillies wrapped up their four-game series with the Dodgers last night in Los Angeles. Kyle Kendrick exited the game in line for the win allowing two runs on 10 hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work but the bullpen couldn't hold onto the lead. Carlos Ruiz was 3-for-3 with two walks, two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs off of a double in the top of the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Flyers have recalled 2012 first-round pick Scott Laughton from the Oshawa Generals. If Laughton appears in nine or fewer playoff games, his entry-level contract will slide but if he appears in 10 or more games, he will burn the first year of his entry-level contract. More here.
The Flyers announced on Thursday goaltender Steve Mason will make his first start of the playoffs in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Rangers on Friday night. Ray Emery will return to his role as the backup after starting the first three games of the series. More here.
