The Flyers were looking to take their first series lead yesterday in Game 5 at Madison Square Garden. After a relatively even first 10 minutes, Marc Staal got the Rangers on the board with a slap shot that beat Steve Mason. New York would get too more in the second period to push their lead to 3-0 before Vinny Lecavalier scored at the end of the period to make it 3-1. Claude Giroux scored with 1:29 left in the third to make it 3-2 but it wasn't enough as the Rangers went on to win 4-2. More here.
The Phillies were looking to wrap up their 10-game road trip with a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. A.J.
