The Flyers were in St. Louis last night facing the Western Conference-leading Blues. It was scoreless after regulation and, despite, out-shooting the Blues 4-2 in overtime, the game went to a shootout. T.J. Oshie scored on the first shootout attempt for St. Louis. Ryan Miller stopped Vinny Lecavalier and Claude Giroux for the Flyers. After Alex Steen failed on the Blues' second attempt, Kevin Shattenkirk ended it for St. Louis with the winner. More here.
After a wild Opening Day, the Phillies and Rangers returned to normal last night in Arlington. The Phillies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the sixth inning thanks to RBIs from Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard. The Rangers would tie the game with one run apiece in the sixth and seventh innings. In the ninth the Rangers got a leadoff walk from Shin-Soo Choo who was bunted to second then driven in by Adrian Beltre to give Texas the 3-2 win. More here.
The NHL has announced Claude Giroux has been named the NHL's third star for the month of March behind first star Jarome Iginla of the Boston Bruins and second star Gustav Nyquist of the Detroit Red Wings. Giroux scored six goals while leading all NHL players with 15 assists and 21 points in 14 games during the month while leading the Flyers to a 9-3-2 record. More here.
DeSean Jackson has agreed to a three-year deal with the Washington Redskins. Jackson's public relations representative Denise White says the signing in Washington is official. Jackson, 27, went to the Pro Bowl in 2013 for the first time since 2010 and the third time in his six seasons in the league. More here.
