The Flyers were looking to force a Game 7 with a win against the Rangers last night at the Wells Fargo Center. Wayne Simmonds got the Flyers on the board in the first period. With the lead at 1-0, Simmonds scored again in the second period. After an Erik Gustafsson goal made it 3-0 Flyers, Simmonds completed the hat trick with his third of the game and second goal of the period in the second to make it 4-0. The Flyers rolled to a 5-2 victory to force a decisive Game 7 tonight in New York. More here.
The Phillies were forced to wait to open their series with the Mets last night. One hour and 28 minutes to be exact as rain forced a delay at the start of the game. Ruben Tejada had a strong game at the plate for New York going 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Jon Niese allowed one run over seven innings of work while driving in a run of his own at the plate leading the Mets to a 6-1 victory over the Phillies. More here.
