Yesterday the Phillies looked to build off their 9th inning comeback victory on Saturday night as they were looking to win their first home series of the season. They got off to a fast start by scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. The Royals would cut the lead in half in the third inning. Billy Butler gave the Royals a 6-4 lead with his fifth inning grand slam. The Royals would push it to 9-4 before Jimmy Rollins cut it to 9-7 with a three run homerun in the bottom of the ninth. The Phillies would get it to 9-8 when Erik Kratz was up with runners at second and third and struck out to end the game. More here.
The NHL lockout cause the cancelation of a lot of games, none bigger than the annual Winter Classic. Yesterday the NHL announced that the Winter Classic would be played January 1, 2014 at Michigan Stadium and it will be played between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. Michigan Stadium holds 100,000 people and it would set a world record for most people attending a hockey game. More here.
The Los Angeles Clippers took on the Lakers last night at the Staples' Center looking for their first division title in franchise history. Point guard Chris Paul had 24 points, 12 assists, and five rebounds as the Clippers would roll on the Lakers, 109-95.
