Last night the Phillies were looking to win back-to-back games for the first time since July 13th and 14th. Ethan Martin took the hill for the Phillies throwing 6.1 innings allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts. John Mayberry Jr.'s fourth inning three-run home run gave the Phillies a 4-0 lead. Carlos Ruiz would make it 5-0 with a solo shot in the fifth and the Phillies would hold on to a 5-4 victory. More here.
Broncos linebacker Von Miller is reportedly facing a six game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Miller's representatives are trying to get the suspension reduced from six to four games and the All-Pro is not expected to appeal. More here.
The Patriots have had their troubles with their tight ends this off-season. First they released Aaron Hernandez after he was charged with first-degree murder and they also had to deal with Rob Gronkowski's back and forearm injuries. The team said yesterday it is not realistic to expect Gronkowski to return in time for Week 1. Now New England must decide whether or not to put him on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
