The Phillies took on the Seattle Mariners last night at Citizens Bank Park with A.J. Burnett on the mound. Kyle Seager hit a monster home run to right field in the sixth inning on a 3-0 fastball to give the Mariners a 3-0 lead. Seattle would extend it to 5-0 when the Phillies would score two in the bottom of the ninth but it was not enough as they lost 5-2. More here.
The Eagles have announced the have acquired running back Kenjon Barner from the Carolina Panthers for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Barner, 25, was selected by the Panthers with the 182nd overall pick (sixth round) in the 2013 NFL draft out of the University of Oregon. More here.
Flyers goaltender Steve Mason resumed skating on Monday for the first time in three weeks. Mason broke his right pinky finger playing hockey in Oakville, Ontario on Sunday, July 27th and was expected to miss two weeks of training. More here.
The Eagles announced they have released inside linebacker Jason Phillips. It marks the first roster move, aside from rookie signings, since May 19th. Phillips signed a two-year, $1.46 million contract in March 2013 expecting to make an impact on special teams. More here.
This week Sports Illustrated is bowing down to arguably the best player on the Taney Little League team from Center City Philadelphia, Mo'Ne Davis. Davis has electrified audiences as she can crank her fastball up to 70 mph while comparing her curveball to Dodgers Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw. More here.
