The Taney Dragons were looking to punch their ticket to the United States Championship Game. The team from Chicago put up six runs in the first two innings thanks to some sloppy play from Taney and timely hitting. Taney would mount a comeback to make it 6-4 then in the fifth inning Kai Cummings hit a solo home run to cut it to 6-5. Taney would put runners on first and third with two outs in the sixth but a fly out would end the game and Taney's Little League World Series hopes.
The Eagles were looking to get their starters some quality work against the Steelers. Nick Foles went 19-for-29 with a touchdown and an interception. Jeremy Maclin led all Eagles with 43 receiving yards on six receptions but did have an injury scare in the second quarter. The Eagles first-team defense was stifling as they held the Steelers scoreless until 4:07 remaining in the third quarter as Philadelphia went on to win 31-21.
Sixers are likely sending forward Thaddeus Young to Minnesota in exchange for forward Anthony Bennett in the expected-blockbuster deal that would send All-Star Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Star Tribune's Jerry Zgoda tweeted people should not believe reports of the Timberwolves sending Bennett to Philadelphia in exchange for Thaddeus Young. More here.
