The Phillies opened a four-game series with the Mets last night with Cliff Lee on the mound.Lee was dominant and gave the Phillies exactly what their depleted bullpen needed. Lee threw 121 pitches over eight innings and battled through allowing just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts. Cody Asche went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to pace the Phillies to a 2-1 victory. Mets All-Star pitcher Matt Harvey tore the UCL in his right elbow is "back breaking" as one Mets fan described the situation. Harvey, 24, wasn't too sharp on Saturday against the Tigers as he allowed two runs on 13 hits over 6.2 innings to get his fifth loss of the season. He will not have surgery yet but will be re-evaluated later in the month. More here.
Sixers head coach Brett Brown has added Memphis Grizzlies' player-development coach Lloyd Pierce to his staff in a similar position. Pierce was one of the candidates for the Sixers head coaching job. He served as the player-development coach with Memphis for the last two seasons. More here.
