The Phillies welcomed the Houston Astros to town last night. Ryan Howard belted his 17th home run of the season in the second inning to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead. Former-Phillies prospect Jonathan Singleton drove in the only Astros run of the night with an RBI single in the seventh inning. Howard came through in the clutch in the bottom of the 15th inning driving in Grady Sizemore with the game-winning single as the Phillies won 2-1. More here.
The Flyers announced on Tuesday defenseman Kimmo Timonen is being treated for blood clots in his right leg and both of his lungs. Flyers general manager Ron hextall released a statement, "Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lower right leg and in both lungs. Kimmo is currently being treated for this disorder back in his home country of Finland. His return to play is yet to be determined." More here.
The shocking news that surfaced yesterday afternoon of defenseman Kimmo Timonen's blood clots in his right leg and both lungs forced the Flyers to make a move to bolster their blue line.
