The ultimate Big 5 rivalry was in action last night as the Saint Joseph’s Hawks took on the Villanova Wildcats in the Holy War. The Hawks were led by Langston Galloway’s 22 points and six three pointers, including the one with 2:12 remaining that put the Hawks up 61-56. Unfortunately for St. Joe’s, Villanova would go on to score the next nine points over the remaining two minutes, including James Bell’s 3-point dagger with 29 seconds remaining. Former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue ruled yesterday to vacate all of the New Orleans Saints player suspensions from “bountygate.” Ultimately, Tagliabue ruled that the players were at fault but more of the fault lies in the hands of the coaches and organization. The wording of the ruling from Roger Goodell’s predecessor leaves many to believe that former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and head coach Sean Payton will not get off as easy. The Indians were involved in wheeling and dealing yesterday. The Indians traded Shin Shoo Choo to the Cincinnati Reds for outfielder Drew Stubbs and received pitcher Trevor Bauer from the Diamondbacks who received shortstop prospect Didig Gregorius.
