The Flyers faced off against the Washington Capitals last night looking to bounce back after the 5-4 loss on Sunday. After falling behind 2-1 in the second period, the Flyers scored four unanswered to take a 5-2 lead. This time they held on to their three-goal third period lead to take a crucial two points and move back to .500 at 15-15-4. More here.
With 4:43 remaining in the second period, Brayden Schenn was in his own zone with the puck near the corner boards. Capitals rookie Tom Wilson came charging in towards the boards and hit Schenn square into the boards. Schenn struggled to get back to the Flyers bench but Nick Grossmann dropped the gloves immediately with Wilson. Schenn would not return with an upper-body injury. More here.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren gave an update on the Vinny Lecavalier's condition and it wasn't exactly good news all around. The 33-year-old is dealing with back spasms in addition to his fracture. Holmgren said the spasms have gotten smaller and are contained to the fracture area but until they are completely gone, Lecavalier will be limited in his rehabilitation. More here.
