The Flyers were looking to move above .500 for the first time this season against the Columbus Blue Jackets last night. Columbus jumped out to a 3-0 lead through two periods and were 36-0-1 when leading after two periods dating back to January 2012. The Flyers fell behind 4-2 in the third period when they rattled off three unanswered goals to win 5-4 thanks to game-tying and game-winning goals from Claude Giroux. More here.
The Flyers had a scary incident Tuesday night. With 4:43 remaining in the second period, Brayden Schenn was in his own zone with the puck near the corner boards. Capitals rookie Tom Wilson came charging in towards Schenn and hit the Flyers forward square into the boards. Wilson received a five-minute major for charging and a game misconduct for the hit. The NHL scheduled a phone hearing for Wilson on Thursday. The Department of Player Safety decided that Wilson will not face any supplemental discipline. More here.
Trade talks were swirling around Rockets center Omer Asik. However yesterday Houston ended trade talks with other teams and will keep Asik for now. The Celtics and Sixers seemed to be the two teams the Rockets were talking to for Asik's services. More here.
