The Eagles took on the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football last night in a game that was only a matter of seeding for the Eagles IF they win Sunday against Dallas. LeSean McCoy wanted to put the offense on his back and he did. McCoy rushed 18 times for a team-high 133 yards and two touchdowns. Nick Foles completed 84% of his passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns en route to a 54-11 rout of the Bears to push their record to 9-6. More here.
The Flyers and Islanders are "taking serious runs" at acquiring Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty. Brooks reports Pacioretty's cap hit of $4.5 million through 2018-19 is attractive to teams but Montreal general manager Marc Bergevin is reluctant to trade within the Eastern Conference. More here.
Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien was a commodity last year for NFL teams looking for a new head coach. This offseason O'Brien figures to be one of the hottest commodities among college coaches. The head coach amended his contract to reduce the NFL buyout from $19.33 million to $6.48 million making it easier for him to accept a job in the NFL. More here.

The Cowboys and Redskins faced off yesterday with the Cowboys needed a win to force a decisive Week 17 game against the Eagles. After jumping out to a 14-6 lead, Dallas allowed 17 unanswered points to Washington. They would cut it to 23-17 when Tony Romo led the Cowboys on a drive down the field and on fourth and goal from the 12, Romo found uncovered DeMarco Murray inside the five yard line for the touchdown to win 24-23. The Giants squared off against the Detroit Lions yesterday in a late afternoon game. The Lions needed a win to stay alive in the playoff chase. With just under five minutes remaining and holding on to a seven point lead, Matthew Stafford threw a pick six that tied the game. it would head to overtime where New York would kick a field goal to win it 23-20.
