Good morning! Today will start out cloudy, but the clouds will part and make way for some sun with a high of 53. The Sixers take on the Orlando Magic tonight at home at 7:00pm.
The Flyers were looking to go over the .500 mark with a win at Minnesota last night. Early in the game the Wild were in the Flyers zone, but the Flyers defense prevailed for the majority of the game, giving up only 21 shots. However, the Flyers offense without leading scorer Vinny Lecavalier could not generate anything, only recording 21 shots of their own. The flyers offense struggled mightily, also turning the puck over 18 times. The game was tied going into the 3rd period when the Wild scored their two to take the win 2-0. The Flyers take on the Red Wings Wednesday night at 8:00pm.
A hyped up Monday Night Football game between the Seahawks and the Saints turned into a blowout pretty quickly. The Seahawks jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter, and were leading 27-7 at the half. Seattle's defense help the New Orleans' offense to only 188 yards, the Saints' lowest yards gained since 2003. Russel Wilson threw for 310 yards and 3 TD's in the rout, and the Seahawks look like the best team in the NFC with their 11-1 record.
The USC Trojans hired now former University of Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian to run the Trojan football program moving forward. Sarkisian was an assistant at USC from 2001-2003 and 2005-2008. He went 34-29 in five seasons as the head coach at UW. Interim coach Ed Orgeron was "outraged" at the hiring, and has resigned from his position with a bowl game remaining for the current USC team. Orgeron went 6-2 this year after Lane Kiffin was fired, and many thought he deserved the job as head coach. More here.
