
The NHL and NHLPA appear to have made great strides towards a new CBA over the past two days. They met past midnight last night again but the extent of the progress is not known at this time. Rumors have circulated that both sides are working towards a deal and want to have it completed by tomorrow with hopes of a season beginning any time after December 20th. More here.
The Villanova Wildcats, amidst bogus-rumors surrounding their coach, welcomed Big 5 rival Temple to the Pavilion last night. Despite trailing by four at halftime, the Owls stormed ahead in the second half and took control of the game quickly. The Owls outscored the Wildcats 44-25 in the second half using a 18-2 run over the first six and a half minutes. Temple would go on to win 76-61. More here.
Kobe Bryant entered another elite category last night. Bryant became just the fifth member of the 30,000 point club and the youngest member to reach the milestone. However, despite being the youngest, he also required the most games to reach 30,000 points. Bryant poured in 29 points in a 103-87 victory over the New Orleans Hornets (soon to be New Orleans Pelicans). More here.
