The 76ers were in Los Angeles last night facing off against the Clippers and it was bad. Really bad. The Clippers opened the game on a 30-5 run en route to outscoring the Sixers 46-15 in the first quarter. The Clippers 31-point lead after the first quarter was the largest first quarter lead in franchise history. They would lead by 39 at halftime and the Sixers would trail by as many as 56 before losing 123-78. More here.
Missouri defensive end, SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and 2014 NFL Draft hopeful Michael Sam came out publicly as gay yesterday behind a ton of support from fans, players, coaches, and the media. His timing, prior to the NFL Combine, is courageous and he reportedly told his teammates prior to the 2013 season. The Tigers went from 5-7 last year to 12-2 in 2013.
The Big 12 suspended Oklahoma State point guard Marcus Smart for three games following his incident Saturday with a Texas tech fan in which he shoved the man after he made inappropriate comments to the point guard.
The Pistons fired head coach Maurice Cheeks yesterday after a 21-29 start in Cheeks' first season as Detroit head coach.
