The Sixers were in Utah last night taking on the Jazz in their final game before the All Star break. It was still a game in the fourth quarter when the Sixers went on a 16-2 run late in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 91 before Alec Burks went on a 9-0 run by himself for the Jazz. Yesterday the Phillies signed starting pitcher A.J. Burnett to a one-year deal worth $16 million. Earlier in the off-season he said he would retire before announcing he wanted to pitch in 2014. The 37-year-old went 10-11 with a 3.30 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP with the Pirates in 2013. More here.

Hamels is 8-to-10 days away from throwing his first bullpen session and, perhaps most concerning, he said he will not be ready for Opening Day. More here.
