The Sixers played their last game before the All Star Break last night in Milwaukee as they took on the Bucks. The Sixers led by 10 after the first quarter and by seven at halftime. After the first the Bucks slowly but surely chipped away at the Sixers lead. They only led by three points after the third quarter and the Bucks went to work defensively. The 76ers were held to 17 points and went on to lose 94-92. They were paced by Monta Ellis’ 27 points and Brandon Jennings 21 points. Evan Turner led all Sixers with 20 points. In one of the most shocking stories of 2013, famed South African sprinter Oscar Pistorius has been arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius, who had both of his legs amputated just below the knee before the age of one, competed at the 2012 Olympics in London. An investigation is still ongoing but Pistorius was at his home at the time of the murder. Steenkamp was shot four times and was pronounced dead at the Pistorius home. More here.
No. 2 Duke faced off against archrival North Carolina last night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Tar Heels despite not being nationally ranked put up a fight. They took a four point lead into halftime but the Blue Devils stormed back with a strong second half. The Tar Heels were dreadful from the free throw line going 13-for-23 and missing crucial free throws down the stretch, missing six straight at one point. Duke would escape with a 73-68 victory.
