The Flyers came back from the Olympic break last night when they welcomed the San Jose Sharks to the Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers got two quick goals after the Sharks struck first but it went downhill in the second period. San Jose scored five goals in the second period including a hat trick from Joe Pavelski. Eagles have signed wide receiver Riley Cooper to a five-year deal worth $25 million. Cooper was slated to become an unrestricted free agent on March 11th. Cooper, 26, had a breakout season last year for the Eagles setting career-highs in receptions (47), yards (835) and touchdowns (8) while boasting the league's third-best yards-after-catch (YAC) at 17.4 yards. The Eagles announced today they have signed center Jason Kelce to a seven-year deal and the extension is worth $37.5 million and up to $40.11 million with $13 million guaranteed. The deal makes him one of the top-five paid centers in the league. More here.
The contract negotiation discrepancy between the Eagles and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is the number of years in the contract, but not how you might think. Maclin wants a one-year "show me" contract to prove he is healthy to get a larger deal next offseason while the Eagles was a legitimate multi-year contract with the injured wideout. More here.
