The NHL Board of Governors ratified the new CBA unanimously on Wednesday afternoon. The only thing the new CBA is waiting on is the ratification from the players. At 8:00 pm last night and continuing until 8:00 am tomorrow morning, the players will vote electronically on the new CBA. If the players vote for the CBA, which is what everyone is expecting, camps will most likely open on Sunday. More here.
The Phillies struggled last year as they gave up their National League East crown which they held for five seasons and stumbled to an 81-81 record. One of the few players who was consistently good all year was starter Cole Hamels. Hamels was rewarded with a six year, $144 million deal in July. Well reports surfaced yesterday that Hamels has experienced some offseason shoulder issues during his throwing program. He is a player that the Phillies cannot afford to lose if they want to compete for a playoff spot. More here.
The Sixers need help in their frontcourt as Andrew Bynum has yet to play a second for the team. They do not have a ton of trade assets so they are stuck. Good news came out of Columbus, Ohio last night as former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden, whose career has been marred by injuries, is looking to make a comeback.
