The Sixers played last night against the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. After a poor showing in the first quarter, the Sixers proceeded to outscore Denver 44-26 in the second quarter en route to a season-high 68 points at halftime. After firing Greg Schiano, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasted no time finding their head-man to be their new head coach. The team reached an agreement on a four-year deal with former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith to be the new head coach. Smith spent time in Tampa as a member of Tony Dungy's defensive staff.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings faced off in the 2014 Winter Classic yesterday at The Big House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was snowing heavily during the game as the Red Wings got out to a 1-0 lead in the second period. James van Riemsdyk responded with his 15th goal of the year beating Jimmy Howard top-shelf. The two teams would swap goals in the third period to force overtime and eventually a shootout. It would come down to the final shooter as Tyler Bozak beat Howard to win it 3-2 for the Maple Leafs.
