The Oregon Ducks, led by Eagles coaching candidate Chip Kelly, went into the Fiesta Bowl looking to end their season on a high note. After jumping out to a 15-0 lead, Oregon relied heavily on featured running back Kenjon Barner, who rushed 31 times for 143 yards. They even recorded a 1-point safety. Oregon is 2-0 in their last two BCS bowls since losing the national championship to Cam Newton and the Auburn Tigers in 2010. Kansas State committed two turnovers while unable to force an Oregon turnover. More here.
Penn State football coach Bill O’Brien had garnered a lot of interest in from NFL teams about vacant head coaching positions. He had interest specifically from four NFL teams, including the Eagles, and interviewed with the Cleveland Browns. After all of the hype from NFL fans and hysteria around Happy Valley, O’Brien announced last night that he would not be leaving Penn State for any other head coaching position. He said that he asked the players to commit to him and the school and he made a commitment to the players. More here.
Former Eagles coach Andy Reid was all but certain to be the Cardinals new head coach on New Years day. Three days later, it is becoming clear that Reid is not heading to Arizona. Reid looks like he will become the new head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Reid cancelled his other interviews and reports are that Reid, his agent Bob LaMonte, and the Chiefs are working out a deal. More here.
