The Sixers were in action last night against the Washington Wizards. They got out to a hot start as they jumped out 22-6 early in the first capitalizing on a number of first quarter Washington turnovers. They went ice cold after outscoring the Wizards 28-16. The 76ers would not score more than 18 points in any of the three remaining quarters. It was a rather boring game to watch as the 76ers only scored 14 points in the second quarter and the Wizards only scored 11 points in the third. The Sixers would cruise to a 78-61 victory but lost forward Thaddeus Young to a hamstring injury in the process. More here.
The Indiana Hoosiers had a big win on Saturday as they knocked off previously No. 1 Michigan at home. The win was enough to jettison the Hoosiers to No. 1 in the nation. The Florida Gators jumped in the rankings to No. 2. It is their highest ranking since 2007. Michigan fell to No. 3 after their loss on Saturday. The Duke Blue Devils are fourth and the Kansas Jayhawks fell to No. 5 after their loss to Oklahoma State at home on Saturday. More here.
The Alabama Crimson Tide landed the No. 1 inside linebacker recruit in the nation yesterday. Reuben Foster is the No. 16 overall recruit in the nation and he will be headed to Tuscaloosa to lay for the reigning national champions. What makes Foster and interesting choice for the Crimson Tide is that he has an Auburn tattoo, the archrival of Alabama. More here.
