The Flyers took on the New Jersey Devils last night looking to close out their road trip on a high note. The Devils struck just 57 seconds into the first period and that is all the scoring there would be until Claude Giroux tied the game at 1 in the third. Scot Hartnell gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead midway through the third period but the Devils would tie the game 2-2 with 30 seconds left to force overtime. In overtime, Brayden Schenn took a beautiful pass from Nick Grossmann and beat Martin Brodeur to give the Flyers a 3-2 victory. More here.
The Sixers were in Cleveland just one night after getting blown out at home by the Minnesota Timberwolves. It wasn't much better against the lowly Cavaliers as the Sixers were outscored 36-20 in the first quarter and it went downhill from there. Michael Carter-Williams was the only Sixers starter in double figures with 33 points and for the second straight night the Sixers only had four total players in double figures. Carter-Williams led the Sixers in points, rebounds, and assists but got no other help as the Sixers fell 111-93. More here.
Flyers captain Claude Giroux was not named to Team Canada on Tuesday as the star-studded roster that will be headed to Sochi, Russia for the 2014 Winter Olympics will be without the highest scoring Canadian the last three seasons. More here.
