The Phillies were looking to complete their first four-game sweep of the Brewers yesterday since September 2008. The Phillies didn't get their first baserunner until the fifth inning on a Marlon Byrd walk and didn't get their first hit until Jimmy Rollins' single in the seventh inning. Rollins was 2-for-4 on the day with a two-run single in the eighth inning to get the Phillies on the board and give them a 2-1 lead. Philadelphia would put up seven two-out runs in the eighth en route to a 9-1 victory. More here.
The Phillies announced on Thursday they have optioned starting pitcher David Buchanan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and have called up outfielder Grady Sizemore. To make room for Sizemore on the 40-man roster, Cliff Lee was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. More here.
