The Phillies were looking to take three out of four against the Nationals last night. Kyle Kendrick took the mound looking to bounce back after his ugly loss on Saturday. Kendrick went seven innings allowing just one run on five hits. Ben Revere had another two hit game and drove in an RBI to raise his average to .304. Jonathan Papelbon came in and got his 20th save of the season as the Phillies won 3-1. More here.
Derek Jeter made his return to the Yankees lineup yesterday after missing the first 91 games of the season with an ankle injury. He was the team's designated hitter and was looking to make his return to shortstop tonight. Jeter went 1-for-4 last night before being removed from the game early with tightness in his quad. He is slated to undergo an MRI today to evaluate the severity of the injury. More here.
The Sixers lost another front office man yesterday. Rod Thorn will be headed back to the NBA offices as he will become the President of Basketball Operations for the NBA taking over for Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, Stu Jackson, who steps down after 13 years with the league. Thorn has served as team president of the 76ers since 2010 leading the Sixers to back-to-back playoff appearances. He stepped aside this year as team president but remained as President of Basketball Operations. More here.
