The Phillies were looking for a series split against the Dodgers yesterday at Dodgers Stadium. Kyle Kendrick was on the mound for the Phillies and was let down by a few questionable (read: missed) calls by second base umpire Dale Scott that led to a three run fourth inning. Kendrick went six innings allowing four runs on 10 hits. The Dodgers would stifle the Phillies offense as Ryan Howard's struggles continued yesterday going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. More here.
Chris Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers have been in contract talks since new coach Doc Rivers came over from Boston last week. Yesterday, a deal was struck as Paul verbally agreed to a five-year, $107 million contract. The deal cannot be signed until July 10th but it all but eliminates the possibility of Paul and Dwight Howard playing together. More here.
The NHL draft was held yesterday in Newark, NJ. The Colorado Avalanche held the first overall selection since the franchise selected Eric Lindros first overall in 1991. Yesterday the Avalanche selected Nathan MacKinnon first yesterday. The Flyers selected big defenseman Samuel Morin with the 11th overall pick. More here.
